To the Great People of the United States:

The question to be deliberated is whether a National Healthcare System is in the best interest of all citizens concerned; and if the System can be created, what form should it take. The next several posts are to present the position of the System being a necessary good for the whole, while subsequent posts will be in the argument against the imposition of State Managed Health Care.

Let it be mentioned that while the views presented are a logical conclusion to the deliberations of either side, this author’s position is most assuredly against any government involvement in a National Insurance program.  In truth, this author is against government involvement in many things; especially considering the current collective nature of those that are in power.  They will attach any pet project and pork to any bill, to compensate the few at the expense of the many, all under the guise of helping the poor and needy or the environment.

Your Humble Servant,

How well has the government managed social security? Should we really trust the government with our health? I think not. Many of the good doctors in our country come from other countries. My theory is, that if we institute government run health care, two things will happen. First, good doctors from foreign countries will LEAVE, and second, fewer and fewer US citizens will enter the medical field. Do you really want to wait for months to receive medical treatment? I am happy with how things are right now. I will urge my legislators to vote down nationalized health care.

I appreciate the comment. The government has not run social security, medicare or medicaid efficiently in any manner. In fact the only way someone on medicare Part A can effectively manage risk is to elect Part B and then purchase a supplement policy. If anyone thinks that Part A is sufficient coverage, they better read the fine print: the limitations and exclusions. Take special notice also to the number of specialists and physicians not electing, or refusing, to be in network providers. You will also find the same problem exists in the care off base for our military personnel. I wonder why that is? Hmmmm….

If any of the public believe that the government can't or won't employ similar limitations or gate-keeping they are sorely misled. These are but two of the multiple methods used for cost containment I will cover in future posts.
